It is an urban type facility featuring innovations such as exclusive use of artificial seawater and a layout design with open flow lines.
The open pool in the center of the aquarium is one of the biggest in Japan with a capacity of 350 tons. LED lighting that is adjusted for day and night time takes the needs of the sea creatures into consideration. During the day, the lighting is close to natural light, while it is dimmed in the evening. This reduces the distance between visitors and the animals and creates a feeling of shared space. Plenty of seating throughout the facility allows visitors to relax and observe the marine life at their leisure.

In summer, the entire park is wrapped in deep green, making it hard to believe that the busy metropolis is only a few steps away.
